The thing I loved most about this exhibition is that many of Oehlen’s painting, although seemingly abstract and basic at a glance, with closer inspection, had so much detail and intricate swirls in the most basic shapes. The depth in these pieces through this detail is something that could be effectively transferred into ceramics. The dark colours on top of white backgrounds continues this look of depth. Although sculpture and design is the pathway I am currently following, visiting artists like this gives an interesting insight into how 3D can be influenced by 2D art.
