‘I explored glass blowing in a course at ‘Peter Layton Glass Blowing’, making three pieces experimenting with mixing colour, shaping, forming air pockets and learning how to blow a vase. Finding out my great grandmother used to blow lightbulbs for Edison emphasised my enthusiasm to experiment with this medium. Through this course I also discovered the artist Andrew Logan who specialises in mosaic pieces from mirrored glass. His work has greatly influenced some of the works I have created so far on the CCW foundation course (like making a stained glass hanging that I placed within a wooden geometric structure). Originally looking at mirrors, my interests expanded and I reached out to a local stained glass window maker who gave me some of his offcuts to recycle into my own works.’ - Extracted from my recent personal statement.
