Grayson Perry at the Victoria Miro Gallery

Updated: Dec 11, 2019

Working with a purpose of communicating messages to his audience, Grayson Perry uses primarily ceramics and textiles to care are sculptures that highlight very relevant issues in current society. The tapestry, which depicts a map of London, stereotypes people within the City of London based on financial status. I admire the boldness of his political statements, giving his works such strong meaning. I am fascinated by the way he incorporates photography into his ceramic pieces and the process in which he does it. The forms of the pieces are very classical, traditional shapes, as well as the patterns, but his methods seem to be quite the opposite, with very modern working methods and messages.
